Gardner was born July 22, 1940 in Albany, NY. He received his BA in Anthropology from the University of Missouri in 1965. His work is included in the collections of ATT, Inc., NYC, the Chicago Art Institute, the International Center of Photography, the New York Museum of Modern Art, the New York Mertropolitan Museum, and the National Museum of Art in Washington, DC.
