GETTY MUSEUM ACQUIRES SELECTION

OF PHOTOGRAPHS BY HERBERT RITTS

The J. Paul Getty Museum recently acquired 69 photographs by Herb Ritts thanks to a generous donation by the Herb Ritts Foundation. The pictures include nudes, portraits and celebrity portraits. An exhibition of the works is scheduled for spring 2012. The acquisition has also provided the museum with the opportunity to own more works by artists living in Los Angeles. Herb Ritts was born in Los Angeles in 1952.

LEVY APPOINTED VP OF MMPI'S ART SHOWS

Steven Levy has been appointed Vice–president of Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. (MMPI)'s art department and is now responsible for the company's fairs. He replaces Mark Falanga, who has been promoted to CEO. Levy started his career 35 years ago and co–founded the Interior Design Show and One of a Kind. He aims to make the art fairs more dynamic. MMPI is one of the main events companies that organizes art fairs in the US and internationally, including the New York Armory Show, Art Platform-Los Angeles, Volta Basel, Volta NY, Art Toronto, Art Chicago and NEXT. MMPI also presents other events, such as the Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair.
