News On Artists Represented By Contemporary Works/Vintage Works

ARTHUR TRESS

Arthur Tress has had several new books published on his work. Birch Books Publishing is producing his "Skate Park" for general distribution on November 1st. The 100-page book will have 78 black and white photos from Tress. As the book's promotion notes, "His compositions are enhanced by the skateboarders' fluidity of movement and the elements of their parks. In his exploration, Tress goes beyond typical sport photography, contemplating each skater's relationship to the larger void of the bowl, half-pipe, or park. Cinematic sequences capture their action and interaction."

Tress recently won first prize in the 2010 Blurb 'Photography Now' book contest in the category of Fine Art Photography for his book "Barcelona Unfolds" which is available from Contemporary Work/Vintage Works in a special signed and hand folded copy for $100. The 80-page book was recently acquired by the rare book library of the George Eastman House.

Tress's nude (his only female nude) of noted model Twinka is going to be used in an important new Rizzoli-published book called "Naked" as the book's frontispiece. You can see that image here: http://www.iphotocentral.com/search/detail.php/32/11250/0/11250/1 .
